This delightful story by Beatrix Potter tells about the exploits of two mice named Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca who break into a dollhouse while its occupants are out for a walk. The two mice wreak havoc, especially Tom Thumb, smashing plaster plates of pretend food, upending dishes and shredding feather beds, before finally running back to their hole with a fair number of things from the house. In response the little girl who owns the dollhouse buys a policeman doll, while the nurse buys a mousetrap. In repentance for causing so much trouble, Tom Thumb pays for all his breakages, and Hunca Munca goes, each morning, into the dollhouse to clean it.

I can just picture Hitty sitting quietly after everyone has gone to bed, secretly writing in her journal about her new adventures and the people she's met!
This hand made miniature journal is a hardcover journal with side stitched binding. It is covered in Fine Linen paper and features Hitty's daguerreotype (picture) on the front cover.
Inside the journal are 14 pages, including the flyleaves. The pages are lined and ready for Hitty to start writing!

As written by Hans Christian Andersen. This hand made miniature book is my own design (New for 2009) and features the story "The Little Mermaid" as written by Hans Christian Andersen. This particular version is adapted from an 1884 version of "Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen", Hurst & Company publishers. When I read this story, I was surprised to learn that this original version of "The Little Mermaid" had quite a different ending than the one created by Disney!
The cover is hardbound and features a reproduction of "Mermaid" by John Waterhouse, circa 1900, on the front. The title is printed on the spine.
This miniature book contains the entire story of "The Little Mermaid", readable, and some of the pages have reproductions of artwork by Edmund Dulac from 1911. There are 46 numbered pages and pretty marbled endpapers.

A miniature reproduction of an ABC alphabet book that was published by Kate Greenaway in 1900. 24 pages that tell a story of children and an apple pie using letters of the alphabet. Kate Greenaway was renowned for her wonderful illustrations of children (reproduced here in miniature). Something I found interesting about this book is that the letter "I" is not in it! According to the history surrounding this book, Kate Greenaway used a rhyme that was written before the letter "I" was a part of the English alphabet!
