This beauty stands just under 2-1/2" Tall & is 1-1/4" at its widest point. The hollow-turned Box body was turned from a slab of material once manufactured in a tiny town in Italy. The "Crushed Opal" line from this small company has not been commercially manufactured in nearly 8 years. Its appearance is very similar to that of Mother-of-Pearl, with beautiful translucent luminescence. Its elegant finial Lid and Base have been turned from the "Tree of Music", the highly prized, instrument grade African Blackwood.
This lovely, limited edition Box was custom-turned on private commission & is in the private collection of a very special, gifted miniaturist!
Please contact me for custom turned miniatures in a variety of rare, exhibition grade figured woods & other materials.
These lovely miniature vases have been turned in 1:24 scale and 1:48 scale. The trio on the right were turned from genuine legal, pre-ban Ivory. The unique little 1:24 scale vase on the far left was turned from a one-of-a-kind "freak of nature" piece of Box Elder tree root. Its web-like figure pattern is totally unique to that particular tree's root system!
These little vases have been sold to a private collector. However, if you would like to commission a miniature turning like one of these, please use the link at the right of this page to contact me. I welcome custom orders!
