Thanksgiving, that American time of family gatherings and holiday meals filled with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pies all enjoyed on the fourth Thursday of November and celebrated over a long weekend!

My American friends have the arrival of the Pilgrims on the Mayflower all those centuries ago in the 1600's to thank for their annual family gathering holiday. As many as 107 million American homes will celebrate this year. Being English, please forgive me if anything I write here isn't quite right, as over here we don't have a Thanksgiving celebration - thank goodness - turkey once a year at Christmas is enough for me!
