One of the oldest surviving log houses here in the States is C. A. Nothnagle Log House in New Jersey dating from 1640.

My cabin is certainly newer than that but it is a traditional story and a half construction style. So if I could take a stroll through the CDHM Galleries to decorate the inside, what would I choose?

Her spectacular hand-made crystal chandeliers feature teeny crystals hanging in droplets or swagged around the replaceable light bulbs within and come ready for wiring into a basic 12-volt system.

The floor of my house isn’t the dirt common to those early cabins, but a lovely pine planking. Even though I love the feel of wood beneath my toes and there is no comparison to the glow of well-worn planks, I would have to have some of the hooked rugs made by Don Thomas in the Needlework, Crochet and Linens category.

He offers a selection of primitive designs perfect for any Americana house. His Heart and Hands hooked rug would work especially well in the cabin, and his design Old Town is a beautiful portrait of a bygone era that would make a perfect wall hanging over the large chimney.
