Dollhouse Tourism, Hungary

Some toymakers are specialized in historical replicas and are recreating the 100 to 200-year-old wooden toys. Wooden toys are becoming popular again, as they are eco friendly and healthier than the plastic ones.

Courtesy of the films such as 'Star Wars' and 'The Lord of the Rings,' model making is popular once again in Hungary. The model trains somehow survived the last decades, and more and more young men are building train sets of their own.

These hobbies are available to all because you can start them with only a few materials: a piece of fabric, some filler material and sewing yarn.

A competition is organized every year where the artists and the amateurs can show their latest creations. The materials are very different: fabric, mohair, wool, leather, clay, polymer clay and wood to make unique bears and dolls. The competition has grown ever larger in the last few years and visitors can see more and more dolls, bears and dollhouses. You can find fabulous pieces there.
