Here we have a silk cream underskirt, which is controlled by a fitted overskirt as befits the Edwardian period. I have made a very delicate top coat from silk tulle which is trimmed with ribbons and lace and also an attractive lapel and collar detail which works well with Antonia’s broach. The belt is finished at the back with a large bow, edged with tiny beads. Antonia also wears an attractive bracelet and carries a parasol. Surroundings not included.

A rich array of imported fabrics were more widely available by the mid 18th century – silks, brocades, velvet, laces and trims. As shown here modelled by Fenella the bodices of Georgian times were often tightly fitted, decorated with pretty silk bows and quite elaborate trims. The bodice gave way to a wide skirt which would show off an attractive front panel or highly trimmed petticoat. The sleeves were quite fitted down the arm to the elbow, here they would flare out with the aid of laces. Fenella has handmade shoes of silk and is wearing undergarments.
