Summer is winding down and the kids are returning to school - parents are running around buying the long list of school supplies and trying to find the clothes that the kids will need to start the new school year.
Although it is easy to lose focus on anything other than the back-to-school rush, as a doll and/or a miniature seller you know that this means it's time to get ready for the next big season. It is literally never too early to start preparing for the winter holiday season, Halloween, Christmas, and other international holidays.
Not just because you have other obligations, but because there is so much to do to make sure your online business is ready for the upcoming holiday rush. And in a recession year, or as the optimists call it, a weakened economy, every sale counts more than ever.
According to a recent National Retail Federation survey, over 40% of shoppers say they will start holiday shopping before Halloween. That means that today's web shoppers will begin searching the web for the upcoming holiday season now. Though the holiday season is still months away, it's not too early to start preparing.
This is going to be a competitive season this year. The economy is tight for many families. So collectors are going to shop around to find exactly what they are looking for. So it's to extremely important that you remember that shoppers cannot buy what they cannot find. During the holiday rush, more than ever, your shoppers do not have the time or patience to scour your site. They are more likely to stumble upon a desired item or trying to find the prices of that item of interest. Make sure you have a nice variety of goods to offer the collector and that you can point the buyer directly to the item sought, straight away with all the relevant details for purchase.
Leaving out something as simple as size or price will deter the visitor from continuing with your site. They are more likely to just leave your site than to wait for a response from you since time is of the essence during the holiday season. If you provide all the relevant information up front, size, price, and shipping cost, this empowers the collector to purchase the piece (or pieces).
Don't let the opportunity pass you by, take time out now to review your CDHM Gallery and your website. Make sure you have all the pertinent information displayed and you have a variety of prices open to collectors. Don't just have high ticket items listed. Have a few lower priced pieces available for the visitor which will help draw them in. Offering a variety of items with a wide price range shows the collector that they can afford to buy from you.
You can't afford to let your attention wane from the important details. If all this seems overwhelming, not to worry, you still have a little time to plan ahead. But don't wait to long, the season is upon us. Best of luck with your holiday season sales!
